WHERE DO YOU STAND … On Ethics and Advocacy?

We have listed below some potential advocacy efforts under consideration at the Centre. Which one of the following is the most important initiative for the Centre to pursue?

  1. Best Practices for Client Reporting: Establish and promote global best practices for ongoing portfolio reporting to clients.
  2. Global Auditing Standards: Advocate from an investor perspective for independent, high-quality auditing and assurance standards to protect the reliability of financial statements.
  3. U.K. “Comply or Explain” Corporate Governance: Under the U.K. Combined Code of Corporate Governance, issuers either comply with the Code or explain why not; research what practices lead to better corporate governance.
  4. Regional Corporate Director Program in Asia: Evaluate interest in and need for a regional educational/certification program for corporate directors; explore potential role for CFA Institute in developing such a program.
  5. Enhancement of Financial Instrument Risk Disclosures: Evaluate investor needs for and usefulness of current mandated disclosures; develop recommendations for clarifying and improving disclosures.
