Exam Tutorial

Exam Tutorial and Demo go button

The Pearson VUE tutorial explains and demonstrates the functionality of the computer-based exam. We encourage you to view the tutorial and walk through the demonstration, paying particular attention to the functionality that the CIPM program uses in its exams.

Getting Started section

Candidates will experience the following before starting the exam:

  • Candidate Pledge (required to take the exam): 15 minutes to read and sign the pledge

  • Survey: 15 minutes to answer the brief survey

  • Instructions: Describe the exam interface and do not affect the 180 minutes (3 hours) of exam time candidates have to take the exam.

Answering Items section

  • Item Screens: For the Principles Exam

  • Split Screen: For the Expert Exam. We use a top/bottom format, where the scenario displays in the top window, and the question displays in the bottom window. Candidates can resize windows as needed.

  • Answering Multiple Choice Items: format used for both the Principles and Expert exam

Item Review section

Candidates for the Principles and Expert exams have the ability to flag questions for review. The review of questions occurs once a candidate has reached the end of the exam and as long as time remains on the clock. Once the 180 minutes expire, the exam ends automatically.

Interactive Demo

We recommend Demo Exam 1, keeping in mind the formatting and functionality described above.
