CIPM Program Materials Copyright Permission Policy
Permission for CIPM program materials is for one-time use and must be
- Requested in writing — Requests are reviewed on an individual basis; therefore, provide as much information possible
- Renewed annually — The agreement is effective when both parties sign the Intellectual Property License Agreement, and it is only valid for the stated curricular year
Learning Outcome Statements (LOS)
The copyright fee is US$1 per imprint (per exam, per year)
with a minimum fee of US$100 per product. The copyright fee is assessed
to exactly reproduce LOS in electronic and print products:
- Photocopying (imprint = # of photocopies)
- Posting on a password-protected website (imprint = # of users with access to the site)
- Republishing on CD-ROM, floppy disk, or PowerPoint (imprint = # of units produced)
- Republishing in a book, on flash cards, or in other forms of print media (imprint = # of units produced)
Each product is considered a separate use and will be charged a separate fee.
Example: A business wants to republish the Principles LOS in the following formats:
- Website — With a 300 users per year maximum
- CD-ROM — 700 disk print run
- Study Guide Book — 600 book distribution
Total copyright permission cost = US$1,600
