Philip Lawton, Ph.D., CFA, CIPM, leads the CIPM program as a head in the Education Division of CFA Institute.
The CIPM Association is a new membership association that oversees certification and membership policies, the Professional Conduct program, and the Mandatory Continuing Education program.

The CIPM Association Advisory Council is responsible for:
- Representing the interests of members and candidates
- Recommending membership, certification, and recertification policies
- Assisting with curriculum development by recommending guideline topic area weights
- Assisting with the examination process by recommending minimum passing scores
- Serving as a “sounding board” on other issues and matters pertaining to the Association and the Program
- Assisting in the promotion of the CIPM study and examination program
