Abstract

During the prolonged currency crisis, many Europeans have sought inspiration from the United States. But the development of the U.S. fiscal and monetary union is ultimately unique. In contrast to the United States, Europe seems to suffer from a less mobile labor force and a lack of desire for political cohesion.
