Commitment to green and sustainable finance

The Hong Kong Pilot Green and Sustainable Finance Capacity Building Support Scheme supports talent development in green and sustainable finance by providing subsidies for university students and market practitioners to upskill their knowledge. CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing, Climate Risk, Valuation, and Investing Certificate, and Climate Finance (online course) are eligible programs under the Scheme.

Climate Finance

Online course to gain practical guidance around climate change and climate-related finance matters.

Which program is right for me?

Who should enroll? The Climate Finance (online course) introduces the economic and environmental impacts of climate change. It provides a foundational understanding for business, finance, and accounting professionals. The Certificate in ESG Investing builds foundational knowledge and an understanding of the issues across sustainability topics. It is designed for investment practitioners who want to learn how to analyze and integrate material ESG factors into their work. This certificate is offered in most countries, but not all – please review the certificate availability before registering.
 

The Climate Risk, Valuation, and Investing Certificate is a more advanced certificate. It develops the knowledge and practical skills needed to apply climate-considerations into valuation and portfolio construction, and is designed for analysts and portfolio managers.

Eligibility requirements

The Pilot Green and Sustainable Finance Capacity Building Support Scheme is open for application by Hong Kong SAR residents who are market practitioners or students. For more details on eligibility visit the Scheme website for more information.

Certificate in ESG Investing
Eligible Program Identification Code: GTP-287225
Enrollment eligibility (on or after): 13th December 2022

Climate Risk, Valuation, and Investing Certificate
Eligible Program Identification: GTP-080240
Enrollment eligibility (on or after): 23rd May 2024

Climate Finance
Eligible Program Identification Code: GTP-383230
Enrollment eligibility (on or after): 6th June 2023

Amount of reimbursement

After completing an eligible program, applicants can apply for a subsidy of up to 80% of the relevant fees, while full-time student applicants can apply for a subsidy of up to 100% of the relevant fees, subject to a ceiling HKD 10,000.

Key steps and details

Applicant shall create a personal account on the Scheme website and submit a completed application form with all required supporting documents via the account.

Applications should be completed within three months after successful program completion.

For reimbursement for the Certificate in ESG Investing, please submit the proof of completion document from test administrator Prometric. For details, please refer to the Scheme FAQ or visit the Scheme website.
