Career Insights: NBFCs and Credit Fintech Platforms

Overview

Over the past few decades, nonbanking financial companies (NBFCs) have grown significantly and now play a key role in providing financial services, predominantly offering credit to large segments of the population in India. As of fiscal year 2023 (FY23), NBFCs had an 18% share in overall systemic credit in India. Industry sources, such as rating agencies, expect NBFC credit to grow at a CAGR of 12–14% over the next few years. Furthermore, within NBFC credit, retail credit constitutes more than 55% and is expected to grow. Given the large opportunity in this market, we have also seen the emergence of fintech platforms that are focused on delivering credit and other financial services to end customers, generally in partnership with NBFCs and banks. Join us for an insightful webinar with Bama Balakrishnan, who was most recently chief operating officer of Northern Arc Capital, one of the leading players among India’s diversified NBFCs in terms of assets under management as of 31 March 2023, with a business model diversified across offerings, sectors, products, geographies, and borrower categories.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Gain an overview of the NBFC space in India.
  • Learn about the trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging business models.
  • Review the relevant skills, competencies, and hiring practices.
