CFA Institute Reports Results for CFA® Program Level I Testing in August 2024

New York— 8 October 2024 – CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals, announces that of 24,937 candidates worldwide who sat for the Level I CFA® Program exam in August 2024, 44 percent have passed. All candidates will be notified of their results today. 

“Congratulations to all our CFA Program candidates who’ve passed their first level of our exams today. Your dedication, hard work, and perseverance is critical for your success and is clearly already paying dividends,” said Chris Wiese, CFA, Managing Director, Education, at CFA Institute. 

“Again, we saw a Level I exam pass rate above the 10-year average of 40 percent. First-time testers in the August cohort scored above the overall pass rate, with a success rate of 50 percent. Yet, candidates with at least one exam deferral behind them had an average passing rate of 29 percent. Our exam results analysis consistently shows the significant statistical impact of deferring an exam. We encourage candidates to develop the study habits that lead to successful outcomes and to keep to schedule as much as possible”. 

Successful Level I candidates wishing to pass swiftly to their CFA Level II exam may now register for the May 2025 examination window.   

Candidates for the August Level I CFA Program exams attended in person at one of 486 proctored computer-based examination venues located in 381 cities in 106 markets worldwide. Exam Levels I, II, and III were held during the August testing period. Level II results will be released to candidates on 10 October 2024, and Level III results will be released on 17 October 2024.
