1 November, 2022
New York City United States

CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals, announces that of 10,376 candidates worldwide who sat for the Level III CFA® Program exam in August, 48% percent have passed. Completing the Level III CFA exam marks the completion of the CFA Program, with successful candidates eligible to become CFA charterholders pending verification of professional work experience. All candidates will be notified of their results today.

Marg Franklin, CFA, President & CEO, CFA Institute, comments:

“My wholehearted congratulations to everyone receiving news today of their success in the Level III CFA Program exam. I am so excited for our candidates to reach this milestone, confident in their investment management knowledge and their commitment to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. Being part of the worldwide CFA charterholder community adds another dimension to a career in finance. And charterholders add tremendous value to the investment profession and indeed to society.”

The CFA designation is valued by employers in the global finance industry, including portfolio management, investment analysis, wealth management, and investment consulting. More than 190,000 global investment professionals hold the CFA charter.

Chris Wiese, CFA, Managing Director, Credentialing at CFA Institute, comments:

“I add my congratulations to today’s successful candidates who have pursued their studies through tough and unusual times. The CFA Program is a challenging undertaking, and we are pleased that today’s Level III pass rate is once again closer to historical norms. On results day, we also think about the candidates who did not pass. I encourage returning candidates to take full advantage of all the available learning materials and to consider re-sitting their exam at the first viable opportunity. We have found that determined candidates have the best chance for success when they retake the exam while knowledge gained from prior study is still fresh in their minds.”

Candidates for the August Level III CFA Program exams attended in person at one of 448 proctored computer-based examination venues located in 311 cities in 99 markets worldwide.

Pandemic-related disruption resulted in exam cancellations in six cities only. Exam Levels I, II, and III were held during the August testing period. Level I and Level II results were released on 4 and 11 October respectively. Historical pass rates can be found at the following link: Exam Results and Pass Rates.
