As the Co-founder of an investment advisory firm, Walter Buchanan, CFA, has a keen understanding of the importance of adopting the highest ethical and professional standards in your finance career. Watch Walter’s career story.
I completed the (CFA®) Program in 2018, and the program has helped me to advance in my career since I started the program because as I was advancing in the program and learning the curriculum, I was also lucky to practice the things that I was learning.
So from the beginning it has helped me through my career and it has enabled me to know better the financial markets. My name is Walter Buchanan, CFA. I'm co-founder of SaveNest, a registered investment advisor, and I have been working in the investment industry for more than ten years.
The CFA Program is about the proper function of the capital markets. It covers a wide range of themes like portfolio management, wealth planning. And it's also about how to conduct yourself in the financial markets in the highest ethical and professional manner.
For someone who is looking to pursue the CFA Program, I would advise to have a plan. And I will also recommend that besides having a plan and besides of being very disciplined, you have to make room in your plan to rest and to see your friends and family, because if you rest your mind, these will enable you to have a better performance on the program.
The outlook for the Mexican economy looks very promising, looks very good in the future. A lot of enterprises and investors are very interested in investing in Mexico. Right now, the CFA® designation is a nice to have in the investment industry in Mexico, but I believe that in the next years, in the next three or maybe five years, it would be something mandatory for some positions in the investment industry, especially in the positions that have to do more with taking investment decisions.
